Bogus Bonanza

I have my email inbox set to Exclusive, meaning that only messages from my contacts and addresses I've listed as safe show up there. However, the system isn't perfect. Sometimes things get misdirected to the spam folder, so I still look at it on a regular basis.

I've noticed that spam messages tend to go in cycles. According to the subject lines, the past few weeks I've 'won' hundreds of items...including televisions, power tools, fancy drink coolers, and large-value gift cards. All I have to do is click the link to confirm that I'm interested and the thing will be mine! [NOT.]

I suppose to give them an air of legitimacy, at the bottom of these spam messages there's an unsubscribe link. I know better than to click on that either.

  1. For some reason I don't get a lot of those types of messages. No idea why. But I do get a lot of emails that I don't look at. I have 35 folders set up and certain mail goes into certain folders. And I've notice I now ignore certain folders.

    1. I need to do a better job of setting up email rules. I've got a gazillion folders to sort read messages into, but they all start out in either the Inbox or Junk.

  2. Me too. Just so much winning of $500 gas cards, iPads, iPhones, a Ninja Kitchen Center, a Craftsman Lawn Mower, Dewalt Extreme Drill, etc. Spammers are also sending emails saying I've ordered something from Amazon or Walmart type stores, it's on its way, in hopes I'll open the email and respond I didn't order anything. A pox on all of them.

    1. I haven't gotten the 'order' messages yet. Hope they don't come my way.

  3. Blogger moderation by email has greatly minimized spam. It has an additional benefit when someone places his comment on the wrong post.It sometimes happens. In this case I am able to move the comment from email to the right post.

    1. I tried that, too, but I think they just come back with a new address.
