How Hot Is It?

Every year about this time I get sick of the August weather. Every day is hot, humid, and miserable. Just how hot is it?
  • Every time I leave the house I seriously consider if I even need to, because it feels like too much work.
  • At 9 am I went to the grocery store to get a couple of things. I could already feel the heat radiating off of the blacktopped lot as I walked across it.
  • I could have made a nice cup of tea using the bottle of water that had been left in the car while I ran errands.
  • The halls in our condo building don't have any ductwork for heating or cooling. This afternoon I walked from our second floor unit down to the basement to toss the trash. By the time I got back upstairs I was sweaty.
  • Shortly before I went to bed, the temperatures was still 88°, and with the heat factor added in it felt like 99°.

  1. I was in training in Dallas, TX one year for 3 weeks in August. It was 105 degrees every day. They kept the training center at 65 degrees. When you left the training center at the end of the day, going out the door would take your breath away.

    1. The little bit of time I've spent in Dallas, I know their weather can be just as miserable as StL.

  2. It's the same 250 miles away on the western edge of Missouri. It bothers me a lot more now than it did when I was young.

    1. Yuck is a good way to describe this weather.

  5. After the last heat wave left, we've had normal temps and no humidity, in like low 80's, which is nice. That heat sounds miserable there.

  6. It's been so hot here, as well. It broke last night, though. It is dry, too. I'll be glad for fall weather!

  7. I really don’t enjoy hot weather. I’ve grateful for our ceiling fans and air conditioners.
