I Thought It Was Pretty Thoughtful

The other day I received an email with the subject line of Avoid Unwanted Mother’s Day Emails. It went on to say that the company understood that Mother's Day can be difficult for some people, and if I didn't want to receive any marketing messages related to the day I could opt out by clicking on a link.

I have no problem with quickly deleting messages that don't apply to me but I guess not everyone is, and a topic could be a trigger.

  1. I remember when they started this. And then people were complaining that the asking the letter itself, triggered people. To me, these things don't bother me.

    1. I've never received a message like this before, and had no idea it was old news.

    2. I don't recall how long ago, I wanna say covid though I am not certain. I know the computer desk was on the other wall though, so it's been a little while. Not long, just the whole even sending the email was triggering to some. And then the word trigger started triggering folks. So silly.

  2. I think that many people are upset by the relentless advertising around 'special' days. I can get rid of unwanted emails quite readily, but some people are ground down by them.
I have just read your previous post. I hope your lovely boy is settling in happily.

  3. Glad to hear there was some sensitivity to this issue.

  4. Although I understand and appreciate the sentiment, I'm someone who does not want technology editing for me, I prefer to make my own choices.

  5. Many organizations and companies post messages like this for certain holidays. I've seen them for Valentines, too, as well as Mother's Day. I've not seen any messages about Father's Day, though. A barrage of advertising about a certain even can become overwhelming, especially if you are sensitive.

I began to feel that way about Christmas adverting this year. We don't get to celebrate with family. Nor are there many occasions for us to celebrate in any form. I no longer decorate for the holiday. I've quit sending cards. The bombardment of advertising began to be over the top this year. But I moved on.

    2. And today I got a message about opting out of Father's Day advertising. Although I no longer have a father or mother, I don't mind the advertising.

    3. I don't know why, but it feels like Mother's is a larger trigger than Father's Day.

  6. It's impossible to make everyone happy. And the unhappy people make the most noise.

  7. That's me again. I still don't know why my blogger name doesn't show up.
