When I turned into the aisle I noticed just how many
different types of TP were on the shelf. Aldi carries very few name brands,
but that doesn't mean that they don't offer choices to their customers. Their
six store brands had posh and sophisticated names:
- Essential
- Strong and Plush
- Ultra Strong
- Ultra Soft
- So Soft
- Thick and Soft
With the exception of the Essential brand, all of the labels proclaimed the contents were "premium" (whatever that means when the product is a long strip of white disposable paper rolled around a cardboard core).
I can never remember what brand I bought the last time, but I know that the size, weight, and ply vary greatly from one brand to another. I don't want something thin and itchy, but if the roll is too thick and fluffy it won't fit on the holder.
I stood in the aisle for a couple of minutes
trying to figure it out, then decided on a mid-price package of 18 rolls. Back
at home, I figured out that I had chosen the same brand last time. It was good enough for the past few months, and it will be good enough going forward.

DeleteDo you remember single ply Scott with a 1000 sheets on a standard size roll? It was like using cardboard.

DeleteDuring the pandemic, one could not be choosy about toilet paper so I bought what I could find. Now, things are a bit better. Target (or at least the ones near me) have never restocked Northern quilted, our preferred brand. I can find it at a local grocery store, and they occasionally have it on sale. I have to buy small packages, so don't shop at places like Costco, because we have a small house and there is no storage for mammoth size packages. Same for paper towels. I buy two-roll pack of Viva which stores well in the linen closet and lasts quite awhile.

DeleteI usually buy all my toilet paper and paper towel at Wal Mart. They seem to be the best priced. I hate that it cost so much though!

DeleteI'm a TP Snob, only the best Quality for my tush... when we had a Friend living with us long term, she contributed to the Essentials and bought TP that the rest of my Family were like, she must have a very tough Ass... ha ha ha.

DeleteOver here you can buy cheaper paper with no perforations between sheets. It is one very long roll of paper. If you want the perforations you can buy a little packet of perforations and put them on the roll yourself.
