First Hubby Tony completed one entire row of ten days on his Retirement Countdown calendar. Then just like that a second row was history. Today he crossed off the last day of the third row.
To commemorate the day I went to the party store and bought him a
balloon to put on the corner of his desk.
The store associate added helium to the balloon and attached a long piece of ribbon to the bottom. When I got home I tied the balloon to a weight, leaving a long trail of ribbon across the floor. Jackson the cat had a good time playing with the trail for a couple of minutes, so the gift ended up being for two.
Five years ago today:
Big congrats to him!

Deletecongratulations to both of you dear Kathy :)
ReplyDeletesuch a pretty balloon ,i can imagine the joy you guys feelin :)
I don't know the nature of Tony's work, but in my last year of teaching, there were markers in the year where I said, "that's the last time..." Homecoming, winter formal, grade distribution, prom, and finally graduation were just some of them. Even my last faculty meeting was a point to celebrate and then on the last day, my last trip to the restroom. It's all part of the countdown.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Tony. Since he's working from home, he's had very minimal interaction with his co-workers and little chance to celebrate. That's why I'm making such a big deal out of it.
