Jenny's Number

I always find it annoying when I'm visiting grocery stores in other areas and have to pay more because I don't have one of their loyalty card accounts. I was expressing my opinion to someone and they offered a handy suggestion. All I had to do was use the local area code and the (probably) most famous phone number out there.

I've tried their suggestion a couple of times and it always works.

  1. I was working for the phone company when this song came out. It didn't take long for all the phone companies to take the number in all the area codes out of service. Here's a link about the song...

And here's another link about fictitious numbers in general... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/867-5309/Jenny

  3. Interesting that you used that number for the loyalty card, I would not have thought of that. I enjoyed listening to the video. I hadn't thought about that song in years, and I really liked it when it came out.

  4. Funny! I'll have to try that! Last year when restaurants first opened back up they were asking for everyone's phone number to inform them if anyone reported having COVID. On the sheet I had to laugh because there were several Tommy Tutone 867-5307's on there!

  8. McDonalds called out order 867 and I yelled 5309. Nobody laughed. I felt old and ate my burger in the playground area.

    1. Maybe, but sometimes grocery stores offer extra coupons or discounts to people who accumulate a certain number of points. The person might be happy to go that number quicker.
