No Jacket Needed

Every day from December 1st until Christmas I'm hanging an ornament in an outside public place as a Random Act of Christmas Cheer.

What do you do when the temperature is 20 degrees above average in late fall? You get outside!  The forecasted high temperature for today was 71 degrees.  When I went outside mid-morning to dump coffee grounds in the compost pile it was already warm enough turn off the furnace and open some windows. My inside plans for the day quickly changed.  I made lunch and Hubby Tony and I drove to a nearby park for an impromptu picnic.

Thanks to a combination of high humidity and dewpoint there was a sheen of wet on every outside surface.  The table we chose underneath a pavilion needed to be wiped off before we could sit down.  Before we set out the food I hung an ornament in a honeysuckle bush so I could see it while I ate.

It was awesome to hear the birds chirp and squirrels rustle the fallen leaves.  Unfortunately, after 20 minutes reality and the To-Do list set back in.  We gathered up our things and headed back to the car.

  1. a job well done today Kathy! We are also enjoying mild unseasonable weather and taking lots of walks.

  2. Love your one-a-day ornament idea, Kathy. As for the weather here on Canada's west coast, well... it's in the extremes. Friday was lovely. Could not have asked for a better day. Sunny, mild enough to open the windows and the local mountains sparkled with fresh snow. Yesterday? Torrential downpour. Mountains vanished. Windows shut tight. Today? Torrential downpour. Poppy, our dog, has refused to go outside and she's been up for three hours.

    1. Thanks. I'm having fun doing it :-)

Other Pacific coast bloggers I follow have been writing about the same crazy weather you've been having. Hopefully it settles down soon.

  3. Sunday was a cold, windy, rainy day and we stayed in all afternoon, just reading and eating popcorn. I'm hoping Monday will be a lovely day for going out to enjoy some Christmas decorations while running errands.
