Lucky Grandpa! |
It was a good visit. However, the day after they arrived back I started feeling under the weather, and by that night I had a full-blown cold--a scratchy throat and cough, a stuffy yet runny nose, watery eyes, and a hacking cough. What a bummer!
Grandbaby Jay is not quite three months old. He hasn't had his first cold yet, and his parents were understandably anxious to keep it that way. So the babysitting dates that were planned got cancelled, and I was careful to stay far away. It killed me not to get my share of baby cuddles, and I felt like joining in with Jay when he cried.
This morning as Brian and Nicole put their luggage in the car they handed the baby to Tony, who got to get in one last set of hugs. In the middle of his Grandpa time Jay looked over at me, smiled, and blew some bubbles my way to show he was thinking of me, too.
At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

aww too bad Kathy, you have to wait for next time to get your cuddles in!
ReplyDeleteYes, I will. I already told Tony I get more sessions than him next time :-)
DeleteAwww I'm so sorry!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteNext time will be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI hope so.
DeleteI would have worn a mask to hold him!! When our little Maya came home she only weighed 4 lbs. and my son made us all wear masks after we slathered any bare skin with Purell! We were not sick, either!
ReplyDeleteThat would have been a good idea! However, I didn't think of it.
DeleteAwwwww, there's nothing like sweet baby cuddles! I'm sorry, that must have been difficult for you to not get to hold him.
ReplyDeleteI got a nasty cold a few weeks ago. It sounds very similar to yours, only it also came with body aches and fever. Hope you feel better soon.
I've talked to several people who said they'd had a virus similar to mine. It's really going around!
DeleteMy heart hurts for Jay and YOU!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks.
DeleteAck.
ReplyDeleteAck, indeed.
