Time To Get Ready!

It's not even close to the end of October, which marks the start of "Hallowthanksmas" (the time between Halloween and New Year's).  However, the seasonal craziness will be here before I know it:
  • I've already received an email from the boss informing the Customer Service desk staff that, due to the holiday season, no requests for days off would be accepted after November 1st.
  • Last week I sold a gift card to a woman who said she was getting a jump on her holiday shopping.
  • Yesterday the first temporary seasonal store opened at the mall.

WHAT Was The Problem?

    1. I agree! I enjoy the end-of-summer/early fall warm days and crisp nights.

  2. My 12 year old granddaughter noticed for the first time it's Christmas in the stores before Halloween. She was appalled.

  4. Kohls had a Christmas tree all lit up when I purchased jeans and two pillows we needed this past Saturday..Then at our Vancouver Westfield Mall the kiosks had Christmas Lights on it and touted gift cards to any store in the Mall, is it me or has Halloween been completely left out and Thanksgiving been left out..Tonight starts Rosh Hashanah for my hubs and only child, the jewish holy days are wonderful they really get their heritage and the symbolism of each holy day..Oh, vey with the Christmas stuff in Sept. and sometimes August I mean really, it broke all heat and sun records in the 36 years when we first came out to the west we lived in Aurora Colorado which is the west to me, it broke all records for this town in 1978 and I had to see Christmas lights and a tree in the smack dad middle of September, the retail companies have it all wrong. bah freakin humbug, we don't really celebrate Christmas as my hubs worked grocery retail and they don't do Christmas and Hanukkah or really holidays, he retired early and when I think of him slaving away with the rudest employees and customers he could have retired much earlier...bah humbug!

    1. The stores here are big on Halloween, then jump straight to Christmas. I guess there's not as much merchandise that they can sell for Thanksgiving.

  5. Goodness! I'm not ready...and I detest overlapping holidays! No Christmas for me until Thanksgiving is properly celebrated! And neither of those until after halloween! haha.

  6. I have to be honest, yesterday whilst adding more Halloween decor to the movie room, I was listening to Christmas music on the iPod.

    And loving it all.

    Cheers and boogie boogie.

    2. Hey, got your comment, the chia seeds are great in all kinds of bakes, cookies, and breads. Even make a nice pudding. I use them and eat them all the time. Fantastic little guys.

They bake similar to the poppy seed. I've made the lemon chia before, great combo. So fun to work with.

As for seasons, we love it. Usually Halloween stuff goes up in August and comes down first week after Halloween. Then right to Christmas.

      Bring on the fun. Muhhahahaha.

    3. Thanks for the info on chia seeds. Someday I'll get around to buying some and using them.

The older I get the less house decorating I do--even at Christmas. Last year I only put two-thirds of the stuff out.

    4. Christmas has always been my main decorating holiday. Now I'm working in a retail environment where it gets crazy busy in December. I come home exhausted every night I work, and spend the days I don't recharging. Somethings gotta give.
