Every store has a large display window or windows. Of course, the purpose of those display windows is to get you to come into the store. The chain stores have carefully-designed displays with schematics that come directly from the home office. Smaller stores get to be more creative.
Most of the clothing stores feature mannequins sporting merchandise you can find inside. Sometimes the mannequins are realistic. Sometimes they come in unnatural colors. Sometimes they are missing heads or feet. With the exception of the plus-size women's stores, the stores in the malls I frequent put their merchandise on slim female and athletic male mannequins.
However, recently I saw an interesting development. At a lingerie and
loungewear store, there was a male mannequin with shorts that fit under the
belly of his dad bod pooch.
Hmmm.this is a new one for me as well. Getting real with some of these mannequins. I saw one just today in target that was a rather over size female mannequin. I was surprised to see this one
ReplyDeleteI think it's great to have a representation of sizes. My body has NEVER been a size 4!
DeleteLingerie stores may be carrying things for the transgender customers.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about that.
DeleteIt's good for mannequins to display diversity and realism in body shapes and sizes. Just like real people!
ReplyDeleteYes indeedie.
DeleteI wish my dad bod was that good.
ReplyDeleteI don't think either you or I are the target market for the merchandise in the store...
DeleteInteresting, more people can identify with this. -Christine cmlk79.blogspt.com
ReplyDeleteI agree
DeleteI prefer the realistic mannequins that show real people - and that includes dadbod poochs and everything in between.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great thing to see.
DeleteRefreshing. Dad bods FTW, haha.
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteIt's quite a shock to see more realistic models, but necessary. It's foolish to aspire to the extremes so often seen.
ReplyDeleteHaving never been the size of most mannequins I agree.
DeleteThe one in the middle looks like president Trump.
ReplyDeleteHA!
Deletehmm.. bring in some realism. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteInteresting in a good way, I think.
DeleteThat's not something you see very often.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there will be more and more of it?
DeleteI’ve seen many at Target.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I don't get to a Target very often.
DeleteRealistic looking sized Mannequins are becoming more evident, the average sized American is not a Size 6 and so most of their Customers aren't either.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to learn that the average American woman now wears between a size 16 and 18. That's considered the lower end of plus sizes.
DeleteWhat a fun discovery! I love when stores break the mold and show something a little more real and relatable.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteNow that was definitely an interesting display to reflect how some folks really sre and not just imaged in displays. Not every body is perfect 😏
ReplyDeleteThere's fantasy...and there's reality.
DeleteThat is an interesting display. I've noticed some store mannequins are shaped more realistically these days!
ReplyDeleteI like it! I've thought of creating my own manequin family, to sit in the window, basically to freak out the neighbors. I could dress them for occasions....Just a wild thought.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a photo of your' family', if you ever get around to doing it.
DeleteWell that certainly gets your attention.
ReplyDeleteYes it does
DeleteMaybe someone in marketing finally realized the disappointment of buying something that never looks like you imagine!
ReplyDeleteI can see that being a valid reason to make a change.
DeleteWow.
