And they did. Last Saturday I was almost able to find my clothes in the dresser using just natural light, and according to WillyWeather, today's first light was even six minutes earlier than that, so the room was even incrementally brighter. I thought that was exciting, and so did the newly-returned birds I heard chirping outside.
Five years ago today: Take One, Leave One
We have enough light in the sky before 6:00 am that the trees are silhouetted against light. And I can find my way around the house. Soon we too may have bird song. At present they are sulking because the ground is snow covered and a squirrel has figured out how to jump from a tree impossibly - you would think - distant and grab the top of the sunflower seed container. A medallist gymnast of the squirrel world for sure. The small birds sit in the tree and look cranky about this.
ReplyDeleteOur bedroom windows face west, so there's less early morning light. Interesting about the squirrel.

ReplyDeleteYES!
DeleteIt's such a delight to realise the days are getting brighter and longer.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteI'm cheering for the sun! Up at 6:30 this morning and I was able to open the kitchen blind to a wee bit of light rather than a black square. Morning sunlight makes my whole day better.
ReplyDeleteI know that you're a morning sun lover.
DeleteAs soon as there is any light in my room, my dog wakes me up. This morning we were up right before 6AM.
ReplyDeleteI bet you prefer your extra hour of light in the evening instead of the morning :-)
DeleteThe light mornings are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe sun is always up when I get out of bed. Even on Dec 21st.
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
DeleteIts very exciting that spring is showing itself with more sun, although we still have rain. We're to get two days off from rain however, which is also very exciting.
ReplyDeleteMy area is getting both our rain and your rain this weekend :-)
DeleteI really miss the morning light at the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, it makes it so hard to get out of bed in the morning. As you said, that's just starting to change. Honestly, I wouldn't be at all unhappy if we did away with Daylight Savings Time altogether.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the extra light at night so much it's worth the temporary morning inconvenience.
DeleteMy commute is lighter & for that I am thankful. Driving in dark isn't easy for these older eyes. Especially with those newer headlights. With lighter mornings I just know spring has finally sprung!
