As I went throughout my day I tried hard to be open minded and observant. That included listening to, and respecting, other people's point of view (even when it was different than my own). It also included keeping my eyes open for things that I might otherwise have missed.
For example, I could have considered this handmade sign that I walked by on the way to get coffee an unattractive nuisance. Instead, I decided I would love to hear its back story:
Exiting the gas station after getting my coffee, the first thing I saw on the exterior window sill was a cigarette butt. I was so irked at the person who didn't get rid of their trash that I almost walked right by this lovely Luna moth not too far from it:This afternoon I sat down to take some down time before dinner, but there was a annoying loud humming noise outside that wouldn't go away. When I looked out the window I saw the landscaping company was starting to spread the yearly layer of fresh mulch and my annoyance evaporated. Doesn't it look lovely?

All lovely signs of what happens when we are "open to seeing things a new way."
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeletePerspective is everything
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
DeleteYou did make the most of your day!
ReplyDeleteI try to do that every day. Sometimes it works.
DeleteThree good lessons in being open minded and observant! Brava!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteDo you know that Luna Moths have no Mouth so they have a very brief time once they become a Moth to find a Mate, Breed, before they literally Die of Hunger and Thirst! Silk Moths don't feed, I find that interesting and rather horrific, not a good death.
ReplyDeleteI think I did know that.
DeleteI didn't know how that mulch was spread. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThe method was new to me when we moved in, but it's a great way to handle all of the spaces around the complex that need it.
DeleteLuna moths are very cool and I have to be honest, I LOVE THAT SIGN! lolololololol.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteCan't wait to catch one with my new lens.
DeleteI didn't know they spread mulch with a big hose.
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting system, and I'm sure saves the workers' backs.
DeleteI didn't know Luna moths smoke cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
:-)
DeletePositivity is a good habit to embrace. The moth with its feathery antennae is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I don't think I've ever seen one in person before.
DeleteI love the method for spreading mulch! I could use something like that. Well, not really, I don't have room for the equipment, but I like the way it's done. As for the UFO bus stop sign, that is just my kind of thing. I love finding such oddities. They always make me laugh and give me the feeling that there are other quirky people out there.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of landscaping around the development, and consequently a lot of mulched area. I'm sure blowing would make the job go faster and insure every area is covered equally.
DeleteDon't you just love the smell of fresh mulch? 🤢
ReplyDeleteOne of the best.
DeleteObviously you turned the day around by just being observant, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out.
DeleteWe had a luna moth a few years back and I carefully boxed it in a strawberry container to keep to show the grandkid. She was entranced. At her bedtime, all captures must be returned to the wild, so luna was sent off with waves and cheers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely story!
DeleteHi Kathy....glad you did notice that beautiful Luna Moth. The cigarette butt...I just don't understand people! It really does pay off for us to take time to notice things around us.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand either.
DeleteThat Luna moth is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think this post deserves an award 👌👍🥰
ReplyDeleteI absolutely Loved how you shared your thoughts during the day and this is incredibly inspiring how you tried to observe and get involved in small details and life around you 🥹🙏♥️
Hats off to you for going to take the cigarette but off the window sill and appreciating the beauty hidden in everything that first appeared annoying 🤗😍
