No Bueno!

Over the weekend Hubby Tony and I attended an event, and had a great time. This afternoon we received emails from the event organizer letting us know that someone there had tested positive for Covid. No other details were given, but there was information about the latest Quarantine and Testing Guidelines from the CDC attached to the bottom of the email.

Basically, since Tony and I are both vaccinated and boosted, unless we develop symptoms there's no need to quarantine. We just need to wear a mask around other people for ten days and test ourselves on the fifth day. If that test comes back negative, and no symptoms show up we've dodged the bullet.

If either of us develop symptoms it turns into a different story, with an immediate isolation until the symptoms disappear.

Other than some seasonal allergy issues I've felt fine. But after reading the email, although it was still too early to exhibit any Covid symptoms my slight post-nasal drip felt ominous. Was the tickle in my throat from that or something else? Was my headache because I hadn't had my afternoon coffee, or a symptom of something worse? And when I woke up this morning I assumed my gastrointestinal issues a result of too much rich food. Were they?

Time will tell.

  1. I just went through the same thing. I tested after 2 days because if I did get it I wanted to know sooner (negative). Then I tested at 5 days (negative). I quit wearing the mask around the house. But I still wear a mask when I'm out in the public. I trust no one.

    1. Interesting. Right now we have two tests in the house, but I should probably get more in anyway.

  2. Oh dear, I hope you will stay well. My friend was exposed but felt she had a severe cold and took a home Covid test that was negative. The next day she felt worse and a friend drove her to Urgent Care where they gave her a second Covid test, also negative. However it turned out she had Covid, test no. 3, but she found out too late to get the drug treatments. So negative tests are sometimes wrong.

  4. I don't think that a cold and headaches are the symptoms but rather dry cough , shortness of breath, fever. Anyway, I still wear a mask when going out.The mask prevents the flu, but now with most people not wearing one, things seem to change. (the flu jab has no effect).

    1. In talking with people who've had Covid it seems like their symptoms were all over the map.

  5. I hope you don't have it. I think I"ve dodged it thus far.

    1. An acquaintance who recently recovered from Covid was telling me that she assumed that her 'safe' behavior practices meant that she wouldn't contract the virus. I have (had?) the same assumption. Hope I'm not proved wrong.

  6. I really hope you don't have it. Did you get those free covid tests in the mail? The good news is that you're boosted and that you are willing to be safe around others. Good luck.

  7. When I was at CVS yesterday to pick up a prescription I was asked if I wanted some free tests, so you can check to see if your pharmacy is making the same offer. We still have four in the cabinet so I feel comfortable with that for now. I'm wearing my mask, staying close to home, washing my hands. So far, so good.

    1. As I mentioned in my comment above we have two tests in the house. I will make sure to pick up more, but it seems that they have a relatively short expiration date and I don't want to have to throw anything away.

  9. Covid is getting too intrusive. I had an epic seasonal allergy attack and was convinced I had covid, in spite of three shots. But, it was just seasonal allergies, and I'm still waiting to recover.

    1. I was driving around today and saw that the cottonwood 'fuzz' was floating through the air. All of a sudden my symptoms made a lot more sense.

  10. Awwww shit, don'tcha just hate not knowing after exposure if you dodged a bullet or not? And the Symptoms mirror so many other things, so like you mentioned, everything begins to feel ominous and give you pause and second guessing. I just had my 2nd Booster and my Arm hurts like Hell and for this one I have a few of the more negative symptoms of the Vaccine, which I didn't have with the other Three. So, this is my day after crappy feeling day. I do hope you stay well and test Negative.

    1. At this point I'm not planning on a second booster. That may change, though.

    1. As I get further and further away from the possible exposure I'm more and more confident.
