What's The Secret Word?

I have accounts scattered all over the Internet, most of which require passwords. As the list of sites started to add up I was guilty of overusing (and even reusing) simple passwords. That changed when I recently decided to subscribe to a password manager.

The manager stores my login information for all the websites in a cloud-based vault that uses a master password, so I only have to remember one. I log in with the master, then the information for the specific website automatically fills in.  Became on my own I have trouble coming up with strong passwords, the manager also generates them for me if I ask it to…coming up with something like LgqQQB0TPtcYxGJkf5rf. Good thing I don't have to try to remember that string of characters!

    1. That's what I thought, too. However, it's so freeing to not have to remember so much information.

  2. Oh gosh... I don’t know...
I really hate coming up with passwords. I’m looking forward to the day they come up with another way to secure our information.

    1. I'm sure they will think of something...then the bad guys will come up with a way to mess everything up and the cycle will continue.

  3. I find the easiest way is to have one password for all uses; then I tell my friends it's 17well21; so they can remind me if I ever forget it.

    God bless.

  4. I love that Chrome will save some of mine, and that my phone unlocks some with my thumbprint, but still, I get locked out of sites! I'd rather struggle to get back in than to have it easy for others to. Look at you, being all cutting-edge Kathy ...

    1. Some people that know what they're talking about said that a third-party password manager provides more security than what any of the browsers can.

  7. That's a great idea. I have a file with all of my passwords, which usually works well unless my husband tries to go onto a site, doesn't know the password so ends up changing so he can get in, never tells me and then I can't get in {{sigh}}.

    1. Tony and I could share the online password file, but he's chosen not to. The other day he tried to use the password he had on his spreadsheet, which had been changed. Fortunately, he just asked me what it was.
