If You Can't Laugh At Yourself...

This afternoon our church had their annual Sausage Supper, rebranded this year as the Fall Festival. The event has been going on for decades, but over the years the menu has been revamped to include fried chicken and hot dogs. This year the menu was overhauled again to include an additional protein choice (tacos with chorizo sausage) prepared by the Latino community and modified sides (store-bought potato salad and potato chips instead of mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans).

Once again the temperature for the day was forecast to be well above average. I had volunteered to work a shift in the kitchen, which is a traditionally a very hot place, so this morning I put on a tee shirt that had a church logo large enough to cover most of the front.

I had a couple of errands to run. The first was a stop at the grocery store just up the street to get cash from the ATM. When I got close to the door I saw people standing there wearing yellow aprons, a sign that a chapter of a fraternal group Hubby Tony belongs to was doing their annual charity donation drive.

I walked up to the door and one of the collectors greeted me by saying "and here's someone representing [church name]". I was confused, because I didn't know the person. I started to ask how they knew me, then I looked down and saw the logo on my shirt 🤣.

  2. You have to be able to laugh at yourself once in a while and not take life so seriously.

  4. haha.. I don't often wear sports team paraphernalia and one day I was wearing a Ranger's hoodie and completely forgot until someone yelled at me 'let's go Rangers' and I had to look around to figure out who he was talking to.. me! He was talking to me. Lol.

    1. The event started back when the church was out in the boonies. The story is that someone butchered a hog and turned it into sausage.

  7. It’s funny how a simple logo on a shirt can turn you into an official church representative without you even realizing it.

  8. Yep a good LOGO can make you an Ambassador for whatever you're representing on the Shirt! *Winks* I'm glad the Fall Event went so well and had good turnout.

  9. Too funny! Someone told me recently that they liked the earrings I was wearing and I had to ook in a mirror to see which ones I had put on that morning!

    1. I've done that! Or touched them with my fingers to figure out by feeling them.

  10. Ha, I love this! There's nothing funnier than accidentally looking like the official greeter. A sausage supper sounds like such a cozy fall tradition. I love sharing little life moments online and polishing my photos with Instaup APK before posting.
