The first time I put the earrings on I noticed that the post was made out a heavier gauge wire than my other ones. It was also threaded, with tiny ridges for the back to screw onto.
I often have issues inserting a regular earring into the pierced hole in my
right ear, and the two extra features of the new pair made it almost
impossible. I had to set aside extra time to put the earrings on, which meant
I didn't wear them often.
As one does, I turned to the internet for advise. The first tip I found was to
spread a little Vaseline on the post, but that made things greasy. After I got
the earring in the hole, I couldn't hold the back to screw it on.
The next idea was to hold a warm compress against my earlobe for a couple of minutes to soften the skin. This one worked like a charm! Now I can wear the earrings as often as I want to.

That's a good tip! It certainly never would have occurred to me!
ReplyDeleteMe neither! I love how we learn from each other.
DeleteI love that you solved your own problem. Go you! Rah.

ReplyDeleteI'll remember that for next time. My right earlobe never cooperates.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about right earlobes?
DeleteI need to remember all these tricks. Actually, I'd better wear some earrings before the holes close up.
ReplyDeleteWearing earrings every once in a while is a good idea.
DeleteThank you. I often struggle to get earrings in so I tend the leave the same ones in.
ReplyDeleteI CANNOT sleep with earrings on, so they have to come out at the end of each day.
DeleteSome earrings are more difficult and fiddly than others, I find, but that's a good tip, and I would never have thought of it.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought of it either.
DeleteI hadn't worn ear rings for decades when I was given some cute ear ring pairs a woman sells. I didn't believe the piercing holes would still be there but they are and I can wear these darling ear rings after decades without. That's a great tip that I will store away although I have no stud ear rings.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a good idea about the warm compress, I have a friend who also has difficulty inserting earrings I'll have to recommend this. I wear one pair all the time but if I switch them out, I sometimes struggle as well.
ReplyDeleteSmart!
ReplyDeleteI wear earrings everyday. It's my favorite piece of jewelry.
I have SO MANY earrings in my drawer! I keep thinking some day soon I will return to wearing them, but maybe it's time to sort through and donate some.
DeleteExcellent tips. Glad you figured out a solution.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that worked.
ReplyDeleteGreat tip. I'll remember that. I gave up wearing earrings during Covid. Too hard to manage with glasses, hearing aids, hair and mask. Now I just wear the same tiny earrings all the time.
ReplyDeleteThose earrings sound lovely, and it’s nice they came from family. I’m glad you found a simple solution with the warm compress. Sometimes the easiest tips work the best!
