From Ruins to Revelations

Hubby Tony and I do an extravagant vacation every decade or so. Back in January our church bulletin started running an announcement that our pastor was going to lead a trip to Greece and Turkey titled From Ruins to Revelations, A Pilgrimage in the Footsteps of St. Paul we talked about it, then signed up.

The tour started on September 23, and we got home last night. During those ten days we visited religious, historical, and unique sites that have been on my bucket list for decades. It was a jam-packed trip. I came home with serious cases of jet lag and airplane ear. As soon as those are gone I will be documenting my trip here.

In the meantime, I will be busy visiting your blogs to see what you've been up to.

  6. Hey Kathy! What a great photo walk that day! Here's to more fun vacations like this. Would you ever do them in less time than a decade away?

    1. We've never formally set a time frame for fancy vacations; it's just worked out that it happens approximately every decade.

  9. What a fabulous trip you had. I really hate jet lag. Takes me so long to recover. I can imagine what fun you had in Turkey. It's such an interesting country with so many historical places.

  11. Greece is a great place to visit, Turkey not so much. Turks don't take to tourists very well, their security personnel have a habit of beating people up at the airports.

  12. It sounds like you were on a similar trip to what our daughter and son-in-law did September 15 to 26. That's why we were in San Mateo for those two weeks, to care for cats and kids. And, our daughter did not have to miss her cats, because as you said, there were cats everywhere and she made friends with all of them. She sent us pictures every day with more cats.

Our kids' trip was a gift from a benefactor who has worked with Chad on many projects for the camp on the coast they are all involved in, which Chad saved by becoming a certified expert on historical watersheds. When we were asked if we could come for the two weeks, the only way the kids could do the trip, we immediately said yes, you don't turn down this kind of offer.
