The Perfect Cup

I have a cup of coffee with breakfast and again mid-afternoon. A while back I decided to reduce my caffeine and switched to the smaller cups that came with our Fiestaware place settings. (Tony prefers to use the larger mugs).

Cups small and large

However, for all other warm drinks I like to drink out a mug. The one I reach for the most came from a coffee crawl we went to three years ago. It fits well in my hand and keeps liquids warm.

BFF mug

Last week Tony and I went to the Botanical Garden, where I redeemed a coupon for the annual member's gift. This year I received a lovely coffee mug.

Aren't the flowers beautiful?

That night I used the new mug for the first time. It fit well in my hand and kept my tea warm. However, the bottom was so wide that it did not fit in an IKEA cork coaster. The tapered bottom of my old BFF mug does.

  1. It's fun to get a new mug. I have quite a variety of different shaped mugs, probably more than I use. Cute mug.

    1. When we received the Fiestaware mugs I purged most of the other ones, although as you can see some have started to creep back in.

  4. Hi Kathy :) I'm visiting from Shug's blog and thought I would say hello. I have way too many coffee mugs, but only drink out of two currently. There's just something about the right one, when you find it, that keeps you going back to that same one. In fact, I bought two of the same mug and drink from one in the morning and the other for my afternoon cup :) I'm now a new follower of yours :) Have a wonderful day!

  5. You have some really cute mugs and cups...I don't really have that many, because I am so particular about my coffee cups. Strange isn't it? I have to have my coffee, tea or hot chocolate HOT, so I mostly use a yeti cup.

  8. I see so many coffee mugs everywhere and I love them. I don't have a inch of space in my cupboards for them anymore though!

  9. Love your mugs! I've learned the thinner the mug pottery, the better it holds the heat and for longer! Doesn't sound right, but it's true! Take it from a tea lover!

    1. No thanks, but I bet the people at the thrift store of your choice would like them.

  12. I have one big mug that I drink tea and coffee out of. It's my favorite because it's so big. I like your mugs.

  13. Kathy, I have (and use) the same Ikea coaster and you are so right in that it is too small for a couple of larger coffee mugs. Like yourself, I do have a couple of favorites, one for tea and another for cocoa.
