That worked for a while, but eventually the top of the cardboard got weak and didn't provide the proper support. I looked around in thrift, craft, and hardware stores for something to take its place, but what I saw either wasn't the right size or cost more than I wanted to spend. One day it occurred to me toddlers often need stools, and a baby supply store might have what I needed. Sure enough, the "potty" section of a big box store had several choices. I brought home the one I thought was the most stylish.

Five years ago today: Back In Business!

DeleteI have a couple of arthritic old cats who used to haunt the upper cat runs. They cannot navigate the steps up anymore. They require a slight jump. I love this idea for old cat couch access!

They are expensive and so elaborate.

DeleteThis is so sweet! Love this! Just recently, I was pricing actual pet steps online and they are ridiculously overpriced. This is a wonderful idea, and the neutral color looks nice in your home. I bet you were very excited to see your fur-baby use it for the first time! :)

DeleteOur kitty got a home made special solution when she struggled to jump up onto our taller bed - we took a Lack tv stand from IKEA, added some memory foam to the top, then upholstered her favourite fluffy material over the top. Of course this means she has mostly ignored it and uses various other cat created ways to get up on the bed. The side tables are a favourite, so I try not to keep anything on them.
ReplyDeleteWe find in summer she is able to jump again due to the added warmth, to surprising heights. We just got a shorter mattress so she can make it up easily now, but she can jump double the height of our old bed at the moment after a week of 40+C temperatures here. :) She and I love it hot.
Snoskred, I hope you're right about Pepper's mobility improving when it gets hot again. That would be wonderful!
