Searching For Words

Most days I sit down for a mid-afternoon snack, a cup of coffee, and a crossword puzzle. Last Christmas Hubby Tony gave me some New York Times puzzle compilations (Tuesday-Easy and Wednesday-Medium), but I've just about gone through them. I will add replacements to this year's Christmas list.

Without a crossword puzzle to complete, I've been working my way through a book of Word Searches I received as a white elephant prize a while back. The book was published by TV Guide Magazine in 2015, but the puzzles reference material ranges from the 1960s up to the publication date. So far, this has been one of my favorites:

Capitalized words are those to be found

About a dozen of the 'top' shows were unfamiliar to me. When I searched for them on the internet I found out that most were short-lived, only lasting for one or two seasons.

If you were watching television in 1979, how familiar are you with these shows? Which ones don't you know?

  3. M*A*S*H was a great show. I liked Hart to Hart. Stefanie Powers was a fine looking lady. She played April Dancer in "The Girl from U.N.C.L.E."

  4. I forgot about Lou Grant. Was it a Mary Tyler Moore spinoff? MASH was one of my favorite shows when young for a long time. Barney Miller too.

    1. Lou Grant was a MTM spinoff. We've been watching Barney Miller the past few months. Other than the fact the video isn't great on our high definition television it's a lot of fun.

  5. I only saw a handful of these, but I remember my grandmother watching almost all of them and talking about them.

    1. I started to feel old, but then realized I was barely out of my teens in 1979.

    1. I wonder how many of them didn't make it out of the US distribution network?

  7. Charlie's Angels (the original), five seasons though only the first three were the best, still, LOVE that show. I also love how you have a break for the day where you enjoy some quiet like this. Very cool. LOVE IT! I'm an outside quiet break taker. Same idea though. Just that little bit of quiet in the day.

    1. Sometimes that break is the only 'me' time I get all day.

  8. Fun post! Even though I was still a kid in 1979, I recognized 32 of them! Further proof that, as a gen X kid, I was raised by the television!
Mork & Mindy, sigh...I still miss Robin Williams.
