The New (Temporary) Normal

  • Events cancelled
  • Social distancing
  • Stores with shortened hours (or closed completely)
  • Schools closed and children home
  • Sports events cancelled
  • Carryout only restaurants
  • Toilet paper and hand sanitizer shortages
  •  Welcome to CoronaWorld.
Both Hubby Tony and I were supposed to have out of town plans this weekend. Both events were cancelled, leaving us with two days with no planned activities.  I don't feel sick, and have no symptoms, and am already going stir crazy. Yesterday Tony completed the project at home he would have done at his meeting, and I cleaned my office, then spent too much time surfing the web. Last night we chose to go to church, then ate at a local restaurant (after verifying they were 'safe').
Today I slept in, ate breakfast while reading the newspaper, and completed my weekly cleaning chores by 10 am. Then there was nothing that had to be done. It was very weird.  After lunch Hubby Tony made a trip to the pet supply store to stock up on food for Jackson the cat. I put on my heavy coat and took a walk, but the temperature was just above freezing and after 30 minutes I decided I had enough of the outside.
Tomorrow will be more of the same. I have to make a run to the grocery store, which should take about a half hour. Then I guess I'll see...

  1. I am self isolating because of my age, and already it seems longer than the five days I have been home. I love to go out and about, but choose staying in my house at the moment.

    1. I think if I had to completely stay inside with no symptoms for two weeks I would go quite stir crazy!

  3. Sleeping in, and eating breakfast while reading the newspaper sounds heavenly to me. I hope you enjoyed yourself. I enjoyed just reading about it.

  4. I'm still rounding up cats but that's a lonely affair anyway and distant, from people, for the most part. It's cold here too but supposed to warm into the 50's by afternoon then for several days. It is tough to figure out what to do. I hope you can figure it out and let the rest of the coronaworld know. I'm thinking about learning a new language.

    1. I see how it could be easy to keep a good buffer between yourself and other people.

    1. The grocery store wasn't too bad. We got notice this evening that the Archdiocese has cancelled masses for several weeks.

  6. Deane and I have decided to take a break from 'peopling' for 3 weeks~ we started on the 12th. After that, we'll see. With all his treatments, etc his system is down and it is just not worth the risk. We have a ton to do not least of which is the start of 'bonsai season' (collecting and repotting).

    1. I'm sure you were already careful about who you hung around even before this new virus made an appearance; now it's vital.

  7. I'm hitting the supermarket when it opens at 7 if I need anything. That gives them time to restock and sanitize. So far, so good ... I miss being out and about, but there's no place like home.

    1. One of our local grocery stores announced a 'seniors only' hour, but it's from 6-7 am and I can't move quick enough to get there at that time :-)
