What Does It Mean?

On August 8, 1786 Congress established the U.S. monetary system, and because of that today is also National Dollar Day. In honor of the 'holiday', here's a video that discusses the bill's embedded items and their symbolism.

  1. He forgot the 13 berries on the olive branch. The twenty dollar bill has micro printing under the portrait that you can't see without a magnifying glass.

    1. Did you know that although the larger bills have been redesigned regularly (including that micro printing you mentioned) the dollar hasn't been changed since 1963? Counterfeiters don't bother with it.

  3. There's a lot more to paper money than meets the eye. They are miniature works of art and much under-appreciated.

  4. Interesting. I would guess that most people never take the time to actually look at the dollar bill itself...they have other things in mind. I'm glad to know all about it and I appreciate you for posting this information...Happy Saturday.

  5. I enjoyed that video. Like they say, "the devil is in the details". On the subject of currency, what's your opinion of dropping the cost-more-to-make-than-its-worth penny?

  6. Coins hide an art beyond their face value!
When I was a child and relatives came from America,
they would give us 1 dollar bills!
I have a few as souvenirs!
    Thank you, Kathy!
