Two nights ago I went into the bathroom at bedtime and was surprised to see a spider in one of the two sinks in the double vanity. It was trying to climb out, but between gravity and the slick porcelain it couldn't quite get there. I used the other sink to brush my teeth and went to bed.
The next morning the spider wasn't anywhere to be found in the sink, so I was surprised when it was back again later in the afternoon. (Had it been resting in the drain underneath the stopper?) After spending a few minutes watching it's futile locomotion I decided I would give it a little help. I draped a piece of toilet paper from the bottom of the sink up to the vanity, tucked the end under the drinking cup, then turned out the light and left. When I checked five minutes later the spider was gone back to whereever it normally hangs out.I haven't seen it again.

ReplyDeleteI love this. I happen to like spiders. I would have done the same thing. I have a deal with my spiders - they can stay if they don’t jump on me and I have allowed them free rein on decorating for Halloween.

ReplyDeleteI've done that sort of thing to help a spider too. Although as a mum of boys I got them to get rid of creepy-crawlies!

DeleteWe’ve had a couple enormous ones that look like they have amphibian legs. My husband said they won’t hurt us and eat other spiders. I went along with that for a short moment but then I was like nah, you’re creepy, ima kill you. I squished it with the most enormous wad of toilet paper

DeleteI'm with you on spiders. I let them be and figure they are helping with any insects. I saw a big one the other day and helped him out the door. I'm a mom of boys as well.

DeleteOh girl....I don't do spiders at all. I've been bitten by a brown recluse and I don't like any kind of spider .....Took me a year to get over that bite and my skin rotted out in two areas the size of a silver dollar. bad experience for me.

DeleteYou're a better human than I. Outside, I leave to the creepy crawlies, but if a spider or a fly gets inside, the bug spray comes out and it's the end of them.

DeleteThose house spiders can get very large. I remember driving once and suddenly see one down by my foot in the car and nearly drove off the road. I took an exit finally and helped him or her out of my car. I'm sure they're like cats and just dumping one in unfamiliar territory isn't helpful at all.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I can coexist with creepy crawlies in the house, I would have the same reaction if I saw one while I was driving.

DeleteSome Spiders in Arizona are harmless and others definitely aren't and you wouldn't want residing in your Home. The Harmless ones we leave be, the poisonous ones you have to eliminate, along with Scorpions, yes, both eat a lot of insects, but, they're too dangerous to Human and Animals to have them living side by side with us.
