Unfortunately, Tony's schedule didn't allow us to enjoy a leisurely meal out but we did the next best thing. At the grocery store we browsed through the selection of frozen pizzas from local companies and decided on a St. Louis style (with a thin, cracker-like crust made without yeast and topped with Provel cheese). I've had a lot of rich food lately so I advocated for the lighter Tomato Basil Garlic pie. While we were there we also grabbed a Caesar salad kit and some adult beverages.
Shortly before dinner time I preheated the oven and tossed the salad. When the
oven was hot Tony quarterbacked the baking and serving of the pizza. St. Louis
style pizza is traditionally cut into squares, but tonight he chose
triangles.
We sat down, poured drinks, and started eating. When we were finished everything was gone. That meant that clean up was easy, too.

Can't go wrong with a pizza night!

ReplyDeleteBless your heart for following the link. Do you mean that Papa John's is your favorite brand, or that you can eat a whole pizza by yourself? :-)

DeleteI don't know what kind of oven you have, or if you have a countertop air fryer. Our new GE oven has an air fryer setting that has been great for so many things, like reheating pizza. Just 5 minutes at 400 degrees, and the pizza is as good as when you had it fresh from the pizzeria.
ReplyDeleteI learned the trick from someone who has the countertop version and uses it all the time for all sorts of foods, especially frozen foods that you want crispy, like French fries.
Great information. Unfortunately our oven was manufactured before air fryers became a thing, and I don't have enough countertop space for a stand alone one.
DeleteHi Kathy - It's been awhile and I'm delighted to be back. You really are leaving a legacy for your kids here. Are they like mine and don't really appreciate it yet? If so, no worries - they will.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting question. I've not asked them.
DeleteSounds like an easy leisurley evening. If I feel like taking a short cut, I'll often buy a premade packaged (thin, of course) seasoned crust and then add my homemade marinara and toppings.
ReplyDeleteSemi-homemade is always better, but I was looking for the least work possible.
DeleteI love pizza, and have had Dogtown Pizza. It is yummy.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteI love pizza. Home-made or shop bought.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Any type of pizza is good in my book.
DeleteWhy do you put a pizza in your book? We put ours on a plate.
DeleteGod bless.
