However, it's still a holiday and I wanted to do something different to make the day memorable. We researched indoor activities, and ultimately decided to check out Puttshack
What is Puttshack? The website says:
From the makers of Top Golf, Puttshack is an upscale tech-infused mini golf game, powered by patented Trackaball technology. (Get ready to ditch scorecards and focus on winning!)The facility is located at the City Foundry, an old electric motor manufacturing facility that has been turned into an entertainment and retail complex. I made our booking for 11:00, right when the doors opened. When we entered, the attendant at the front desk told us that the display screens would tell us which of the four courses to go to. The Sapphire course was on the second floor

We arrived at the course, where another attendant helped us check in on the video screen. After each check in was complete the kiosk spit out an assigned ball. That ball tracked the number of shots and kept track of the score. Each hole had bonus point opportunities. There were also hazard traps, which subtracted points.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game play, and it didn't hurt that I came out on top by a few points.
We could have stayed and eaten at the facility, or had a drink at the bar, but we decided to save that part of the experience for our next visit.

That cool high-tech mini-golf looks like so much fun! I'd play a round for sure!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we could play together!
DeleteI've never seen anything like that. I really appreciate that someone thought to refurbish old electric motor manufacturing facility into a new entertainment center. It looks like it was a fun activity.
ReplyDeleteThe Foundry is turning into a very cool place.
DeleteDid you post about this before? I was looking at the pictures and I think I've looked at this before.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first time there. I 'borrowed' some of the images straight from the internet.
DeleteThat's really cool to not worry about your score. I know of some former presidents who need their golf game correctly tabulated....Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHA!
DeleteSounds like fun. The rain sounds bad and the forecast ominous. I hope your weekend will be peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a wonderful weekend.
DeleteSomething similar was done with the old Mustang plant in Milpitas after Ford quit building the car. I've not been there in over a decade so not too sure what retail is there now since that business has changed, too. Perhaps they too have put in amusement places.
ReplyDeleteWhen you think about it, big industrial complexes are perfect for large-scale renovations.
DeleteVery nice recreation center!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time!
Have a nice weekend!
It was a unique way to spend part of the day.
DeleteNever heard of it but it looks like so much fun (win or lose).
ReplyDeleteTony came home and googled the company. We were surprised at how few locations there were in the country.
DeleteThat sounds fun! Well done.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea!
