Good Grease!
The National Today website told me that today was National Greasy Food Day. I didn't need any encouragement to celebrate.
That's brilliant. I did not know the connection between the shoes and the fried dough balls. We don't have them in the UK, but have something similar called dumplings - dough balls we put in soup.
