The family chat texts were flying back and forth as we hashed out details. We thought we had the schedule finalized, but then DIL Nicole weighed in that she had a work trip scheduled and it would be nice if we could be at that house to help Son Brian with the grands on a couple of days we had planned to be 90 minutes away at the other house.
Once again, we remembered how hard it is to coordinate four households and their schedule requirements. After another flurry of texts we have a (very) tentative schedule, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bon voyage; when it happens.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you.
DeletePlease, please do everything you can to make the request to care for the grandkids happen. I cannot tell you how much that will mean to your son, daughter in law, and the grandkids. It's a huge ask, and it would mean the world to them. Don't disappoint them. And, with an extra set of hands in the mix, why not? This will be a trip that will go down in the annals of history (trust me on this).
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that if we were to change our plans we would be spending substantially more time at one house than the other....and short-changing the other set of grandchildren. We try to make it fair for both.
DeleteAs I'm sure you've said to your kids...life is not always fair and sometimes one needs more than the other...your Central Valley grandkids have a host of helpers there, your Bay Area kids, not so much. Also, with your third son going along, could he perhaps be the one to entertain the Modesto kids.
DeleteAs is often the case, as soon as I started holding my breath the plans changed...I will let the California families figure out when and where Grandma and Grandpa will be.
DeleteI wish you a safe and happy 😊 trip.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHow special that you’re able to go and help out when needed like that. I’m sure you’ll enjoy being with them.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get to see them nearly enough.
DeleteI hope you have a good trip and a nice visit with everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis is very difficult and so relatable (but worth it). :)
ReplyDeleteAlways worth the hassle!
DeleteBack when we'd travel, I remember "scheduling" was hugely enjoyable. I'd even plan what outfits I'd be wearing on what day. OCD much? hahaha!
ReplyDeleteWith the changes in flying I bring minimal clothes in a small suitcase and count on using the laundry at whatever house I'm at when I run out.
DeleteYou're right: it is so hard to co-ordinate trips. It will be worth in the end though.
ReplyDeleteThat certainly is hard. I hope it all works our for you.
