You may remember that back in 2025, Dictionary.com named 6-7 (six-seven) its Word of the Year.
This morning I was talking with Son Tony and family. Because today is my natal day, the topic of how old I was came up. When I said I was 67, the kids all broke out in a cacophony of "6-7" that went on until they ran out of steam.

Guess that's my word of the year too as I will be 67 in June
ReplyDeleteI bet the word will have disappeared by then :-)
DeleteHappy Birthday! Enjoy your Special Day!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteTell the the real meaning is 6 out of 7 dwarfs are not Happy.
ReplyDelete:-)
Deletelol My grandson stopped saying it because everytime he would I would say, 8-9. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a good response.
DeleteI've seen the 6 - 7 on TikTok but still don't understand the meaning.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't mean anything! The term is mainly used as an inside joke by
Deleteyoung people and to annoy adults.
hahah.. my kids are the same.
ReplyDeleteBack in the sixties, seventies young people were out protesting the Vietnam war, for civil rights...now we have drivel and pablum.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I think the target market for this slogan is children and tweens-too young to be protesting.
DeleteHappy birthday. I wonder who decides on the Word of the Year? Could we bloggers influence it in any way??
ReplyDeleteGood questions. I know that I certainly don't have much influence on it!
DeleteIs Natal Day a birthday? If so, Happy Birthday. Funny about the kids. I don't get the whole 6 7 thing and I'm okay with that. lol.
ReplyDeleteI am so old and out of touch that I don't get it.
ReplyDelete67! You are so young! Enjoy the 60s. Best decade ever.
ReplyDeleteAs for that 6-7 craziness, I thought it came from a little joke the elementary kids would tell me: Why was 6 so afraid of 7? Because 7 ate 9. And then they would laugh uproarasly.
Kids have the best jokes. I told that one decades ago.
DeleteHappy Birthday....Happy 67 Birthday!! I get tickled at how 6-7 makes everyone laugh.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny to watch.
DeleteHappy Birthday !! I don't get the whole 6-7 stuff. I don't have children or grandchildren so I will never know. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd before we know it the phrase will be passe.
DeleteHa! Although I don't teach full-time anymore, I know kids who would be just as delighted by this. Isn't it great when people feel delighted?
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
DeleteHappy birthday, belatedly!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest daughter and two of her grands visited with us not long ago, aged 6 and 4. They liked to sing-song 6-7 over anything! Her newest granddaughter arrived yesterday. They will be living with her for the time being to save money for a home of their own. I told her she should charge them rent and then just put that money into a savings account for their down payment. They will be surprised at how much money will accumulate. Of course, it would be nice if it made them appreciate the help and support she provides.
ReplyDeleteWe charged Youngest Son rent when he was working full time and living at home. He didn't know we were saving it for him, and was appreciative of the chunk of change he received when he moved out.
DeleteHappy birthday dear Kathy 🥰
ReplyDeleteMay you celebrate many more with loved ones 🙏♥️
I am twelve years behind you
