Converted

According to one of the companies I "Like" on Facebook, January is Braille Literacy Month, and today is Louis Braille’s birthday.  He's the one who invented the Braille System, which is used for reading and writing by the visually impaired.  I decided to celebrate Louis' birthday by writing something in his language system.

On a cute site called Braille Bug, sponsored by The American Foundation for the Blind, I found a English-to Braille converter.  This is what my name (Kathy G) looks like in Braille:

  2. I had a friend in HS who was blind. Watching her type on her braille writer was fascinating. Very slow process.

  3. I always notice Braille because my nephew has been blind from birth. He used to write me letters in Braille. Thank goodness his mom always did the translation for me.

  4. I can't even imagine, as Ed mentioned though it's amazing what we can learn when we have to. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, it makes me realize exactly how much more I have to be grateful for in life.
